A Summary of the first 6 months of 2023 in AI for Businesses

perspective Jul 01, 2023

The first 6 months were filled with two categories of business owners and entrepreneurs:

   1)  Those denying the value of AI and seeing it as a fad or hype.

   2)  Those who jumped in and were using ChatGPT, Copy.ai, Jasper and the like to create the base for creative content, such as blog posts, articles, or whole books.  Those with a graphic talent were taken by Dall-E or Midjourney to create amazing art and graphic images just from a text description.

Like, feeding this to Midjourney:  "Excited black Labrador dog chasing a red ball on a beach at sunset"

So everyone who was obsessing over AI was learning Prompt Engineering, a term coined to describe the mastery of feeding these systems complex and robust text descriptions to get detailed, precisely-what-you-wanted, and complex responses in text and image.

You could buy an ebook of 1,000 of the best prompts for ChatGPT for $29, which were, of course all generated *by* ChatGPT.

YouTube accounts were created that used AI for the entire production process.  Although not automated, the various systems popping up could create the script, provide the voice reading the script, create captions, thumbnails and suggest 5 different video titles.

We have learned and progressed.  Each week another system or another depth to existing systems showing what is now possible.

Nearly every software that we use on a day-to-day basis now has some form of AI-Assistant built in to help create presentations, spreadsheets, and outlines.  Most of these have been well thought out and are well received.  They allow you to get more done in less time, and that is basic productivity.

You don't even need to learn chatGPT, or add in another AI-Powered browser extension, because these functions are now built in.

So if you were one of the early naysayers, I encourage you to look for, and click on one of those AI-Assistant tools in the software that you use most often.

Certainly, some careers and skill sets will be significantly impacted in the short term.

It has been an exciting 8 months since ChatGPT was released in November 2022.  And I think the rate of change will continue at this fast pace.

Here at Desert Sage AI, we're "all in" for learning how to best apply that which is current and stable to help clients leverage this paradigm shift in technology.

I see it as a similar leap in technology as when the World Wide Web was rolled out in the early '90s, and I have not been so excited about technology since when that happened.
